Abstract

Letters from John Helder Wedge to John Leake. The first notes the death of Mrs. Leake's 'old acquaintance Whetee Coolera alias May Day' whose loss was much felt, and the fact that he now has three native boys with him. The second mentions Leake's grant at Hunting Ground. Wedge was of the opinion that Mr. McLeod as the first to locate on the Hunting Ground would have first selection. The third letter relates to Leakes offer to provide John Helder Wedge and his wife a bed for the evening at his property Rosedale.
L1/B545, L1/B546, L1/B547. Letter 1 and 3 transcribed by Monika Heisswolf, 24th July 2014.
