Abstract

Robert Knopwood (1763 - 1838) was ordained in 1789 and was the first clergyman to serve in Tasmania. He sailed with David Collins' expedition to Port Phillip in 1803, transferring to Van Diemen's land in 1804. He lived at Cottage Green' in Battery Point and also had property at Clarence Plains (Rokeby). He kept detailed diaries, most of which are in the Mitchell Library Sydney (see also RS.11, 12, 14, 15) RS.10
