AbstractThe problems associated with the determination of the age of the
Cainozoic volcanic rocks of Tasmania are closely analogous to those
presented by similar rocks in Victoria. In Tasmania, as in Victoria,
certain volcanic rocks are known to be of pre-Lower Miocene age,
while others are known to be post-Lower Miocene from their relationships
with fossiliferous marine sediments (Nye and Blake, 1938, pp.
