Abstract

Both Aboriginal and western man appear to have grossly altered the nature of the vegetation of the West Coast through the use of fire. The shift of human activity from the coast to the inland parts of the West Coast following white settlement has resulted in a considerable reduction of the area of fire-susceptible communities.
