Meteorology records and analysis of the observatory records for May 1864 in conjunction with those of births and deaths

Abstract

Meteorological records recorded at the Observatory, Hobart Town. Including the leafing, flowering, and fruiting of a few standard plants in the Royal Society's Gardens during the month of May. In many respects the weather this month was a great improvement upon that of April, and the reduction of infantile mortality thereby effected, was considerable, on the other hand, some of the meteorological phenomena were very inimical to invalids, and the deaths of adults consequently much more numerous, so that the total mortality was still greatly above the May average of the previous seven years.
