Abstract

Two photographs - seated woman and female child. Bequeathed by John Murray Harrisson, great grandson of John Lee Archer, 1941. Carte de Visite photographs--small albumen prints, 54.0 mm (2.125 in) × 89 mm (3.5 in) mounted on a card sized 64 mm (2.5 in) × 100 mm (4 in). In the 19th century, cartes de visite were a very popular as calling cards. They had a definite format, which was an international standard.

From 1858 to 1900 Charles Nettleton had a variety of studios in Melbourne, Carlton and Fitzroy
