Sarah gives her consent despite being unhappy because Tom is not a Friend. Charles Crosby writes to Sarah about Tom's character, Sarah replies and there are more letters from Sarah to Tom, a note from Sarah to James Backhouse Walker and Tom's reply to Sarah mentioning a promise to Isabella not to drink.
