Abstract

There was a large gathering on January 2, 1907, in the Royal Society's room at the Tasmanian Museum to hear a lecture by Dr. Herman Klatsch, Professor of Human Anatomy at the University of Heidelberg. The lecture was on the habits, customs, and ceremonies of the Australian natives.The lecture ran for the whole course of the meeting.

In 1843 the Horticultural and Botanical Society of Van Diemen's Land was founded and became the Royal Society of Van Diemen's Land for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science in 1844. In 1855 its name changed to Royal Society of Tasmania for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science. In 1911 the name was shortened to Royal Society of Tasmania.
