Presented in this this book is documentation of the work produced during 1987-1988 within the Master of Fine Art course at the Tasmanian School of Art, University of Tasmania. By the beginning of the 19th Century there were those who felt the craft of painting to be in rapid decline. The decadence of the school of Le Brun had been replaced by the school of David, the result being a style of reiteration taught by the Academy. For Eugene Delacroix* the need for a technical re-evaluation was paramount.
