Abstract

Printed broadside entitled 'The Patriotic Fund. The Transvaal War. A Memento.' It consists of a copy of Rudyard Kipling's new poem 'The Absent-minded Beggar' accompanied by a couple of photographs of the Tasmanian Contingent - the inspection in Franklin Square 'Royal Salute' and leaving Franklin Square 'Form Fours'. It was sold to raise funds to assist in the Boer War and was issued by the Proprietors of 'The Mercury' and 'Tasmanian Mail.' From the Eric DB Hortin Bequest.
