Official URL: http://dx.doi.org/10.1002/14651858.CD001390.pub2 AbstractThere is strong evidence that vaccines can protect healthy persons against infection by the pneumococcus bacteria, but little is known about the effectiveness of the vaccine in persons with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The results from the four randomised controlled trials included in this review with 941 participants do not show that pneumococcal vaccination provides significant protection against disease caused by the bacteria.
