Abstract

Correspondence from John Leake to his wife Elizabeth, mainly about the farm, business, servants, family, neighbours and church. He also refers to the Legislative Council, the state of the roads, news of friends etc. John Leake (1780-1865) of Rosedale, near Campbell Town was a pastoralist, Justice of the Peace, member of the Legislative Council and former merchant of Hull and Hambury, who settled with his family near Campbell Town in 1823.
