In essence, there are only two pure policies: requiring (mandating) researchers to deposit, and relying on voluntary (spontaneous) participation, with or without encouragement. This short article describes a third policy that provides a transitional path between the two. date: 2007-01-16 date_type: published publication: D-Lib Magazine volume: 13 number: 1/2 publisher: School of Computing place_of_pub: Australia pages: 4 id_number: 10.1045/january2007-sale institution: University of Tasmania department: School of Computing thesis_type: UNSPECIFIED refereed: TRUE issn: 1082-9873 official_url: http://dx.doi.org/10.1045/january2007-sale citation: Sale, AHJ (2007) The patchwork mandate.
