Abstract

The monthly evening meeting was held on Monday, the 9th August.
His Excellency F. A. Weld, Esq., President, in the chair.
The Rev. J. E. Tenison Woods, F.G.S., F.L.S., read a paper on the
Freshwater shells of Tasmania, prefacing it by some remarks on the
Study of fresh water shells generally.
-On the presentation of the Stone Implements, the Rev. Julian Woods
called attention to the extraordinary similarity of one of them to a spearhead
figured in the Geological Society's Journal some years previously.
-Mr. Rule observed that the immense age of the flint implements of
Europe was shown by the conditions in which they existed in the caves
where they were found.
