Abstract

Descriptions of Family — Labridae. Genus Olistherops (Richardson). Olistherops brownii.— Nov. Sp. - Caught by Mr. John Brown in the neighbourhood
of Table Cape. This is the first representative of
the genus recorded from Tasmanian waters also
Family Hoplegnathidae (Bleeker). Genus Hoplegnathus (Richardson).
Hoplegnathus conwayii (?) (Richardson) and
Salmo fontinalis (Mitch). A native of the rivers and
lakes of North America.
This species has recently been introduced to Tasmania by
the Salmon Commissioners, from New Zealand, where it has
been successfully established. It is said to be greatly
superior to the English brown trout, and to be equally
hardy.

In 1855 its name changed to Royal Society of Tasmania for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science. In 1911 the name was shortened to Royal Society of Tasmania.
