Abstract
William Grant Broughton (1788-1853), Bishop of Australia, was appointed Archdeacon of Australia 1829 and became Bishop in 1836.
The papers include correspondence with Bishop Selwyn of New Zealand 1845; correspondence with Bishop William Tyrrell (1807-1879) of Newcastle 1848 -1852 (15 letters); letters written to others and some letters received, including Rev. R. Allwood, Joshua Watson, NSW Government officials etc.
The original manuscripts were found by Godfrey Moase in a house he bought in
Davey Street, Hobart, but the papers relate mainly to New Zealand and New South
Wales not Tasmania, except for one letter from Bishop Nixon of Tasmania 1847.
