Address to Lt. Gov. Arthur from the Independent-Congregational Church,
1836
1. Draft of address from ministers of the Independent and Congregational
Churches to Lt. Gov. Arthur on hearing of his proposed departure, and
draft of an accompanying letter intimating that the address was
prepared before the parties were aware of proposed measures and not
"in consequence of the pecuniary aid which his excellency proposed
to afford to our denomination, especially as that aid, so far as
I am concerned, has been decidedly declined~
