Abstract

Letter from Michael Maxwell Shaw to William Boyer about the
'Castra' settlement - "I think that a society of gentlemen
at Castra would do much to establish a sound tone of feeling
and manners through the island." He also describes
his own home 'Deans Point, La Trobe, formerly a coal mine
