Abstract

Logging and conversion of Huon and King Wiliam pine was the first industry established on the west coast . During the first hundred years it played a supporting role to the mining industry providing raw material for domestic and industrial needs . Over the last three decades it has become less dependent on local requirements and has sold the bulk o f its output elsewhere.
