Abstract
Contains a list of Members and Fellows, also minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the Royal
Society of Tasmania, held at the Royal Society's Rooms
on Tuesday evening, 5th April, 1892,James Barnard,Esq., Vice-President, in the Chair. Report of Monthly meetings. Six meetings of the Society have been held, that of
November having been postponed owing to the near
approach of the Science Congress in January. All the
meetings had been well attended by the Fellows.
Thirteen papers have been read, on many of which
interesting discussions took place. Library has the completion of the rare and
expensive work " The Birds of Asia," by J. Gould, F.R.S.,
the remaining 23 parts being a munificent gift to the
Society by the Hon. J. W. Agnew, M.D. Six Fellows and two Corresponding Members have been
elected ; twenty have been lost through resignation or death. Includes statement of funds.

Additional Information: | In 1843 the Horticultural and Botanical Society of Van Diemen's Land was founded and became the Royal Society of Van Diemen's Land for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science in 1844. In 1855 its name changed to Royal Society of Tasmania for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science. In 1911 the name was shortened to Royal Society of Tasmania. |
