Abstract

A new species of hymenopteran parasitoid, Trichomalopsis sisyrae Askew (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) is described from Tasmania, Australia.
Adults emerge solitarily from pupal cocoons of the endemic neuropteran Sisyra pedderensis Smithers. The first record of a pteromalid
from Tasmania, the species is compared with other pteromalid parasitoids of Sisyridae (Neuroptera) and Gyrinidae (Coleoptera) with
similar life history strategies
