Abstract
Photograph of young woman standing. Bequeathed by John Murray Harrisson, great grandson of John Lee Archer, 1941. Carte de Visite photographs--small albumen prints, 54.0 mm (2.125 in) × 89 mm (3.5 in) mounted on a card sized 64 mm (2.5 in) × 100 mm (4 in). In the 19th century, cartes de visite were a very popular as calling cards. They had a definite format, which was an international standard.
Photographer printed on verso: T.F Chuck & Son / Photographers to His Excellency the Governor the trustees of the National Gallery and Prize medalists London Exhibition 1874 / Royal Arcade, London Portrait Gallery / Melbourne. Photograph numbered by hand - 19255.
T.F. Chuck had a studio in the Royal Arcade, Collins Street, Melbourne from 1864-1876.
