Abstract
Sir James Wilson Agnew (1815 - 1901) was an assistant
surgeon in 1841 and later Colonial Surgeon. He
was secretary of the Royal Society of Tasmania 1861 1881
and 1884 - 1894 and was chairman of the Board
of Management of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery,
1886 - 1901. He was a member of the Legislative
Council 1877 - 1881, 1884 - 1887 and premier 1886-7. Includes a collection of literary autographs, historical notes,
facsimiles, and miscellaneous notes, and copies of letters
