Abstract
The primary focus of the Association of Public Authority Surveyors NSW (APAS) is to cater for the needs of surveying and spatial information professionals working within state and local government and the education sector (http://www.surveyors.org.au/groups/apas). The 18th annual APAS conference (incorporating the 88th annual Staff Surveyors Association conference) took place in Canberra on 12-14 March 2013. This year’s conference coincided with the centenary celebrations of the nation’s capital, which was reflected in the conference theme “Capitalising on our position”. APAS2013 included 8 sessions with 20 paper presentations and a discussion forum. It attracted 250 delegates from New South Wales and interstate, representing both government agencies and private industry. Continuing the tradition of being a practically oriented conference, a wide range of topics relevant to the surveying and spatial information community was covered. This article summarises the topics discussed during the APAS2013 conference.
