Abstract

January, 29, 1912 A Special General Meeting of the Society was held at
8 p.m. in the Museum, in relation to rule Number 33 and that the field Naturalists Club be permitted to use the Society's Rooms.
Meetings from Jan-Oct included a vist from Captain Amundsen, Readings from Mr. Twelvetrees, Mr. W.L May, Mr. Rodway and others.

In 1843 the Horticultural and Botanical Society of Van Diemen's Land was founded and became the Royal Society of Van Diemen's Land for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science in 1844. In 1855 its name changed to Royal Society of Tasmania for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science. In 1911 the name was shortened to Royal Society of Tasmania.
