Abstract

The meeting was held on the 11th September, 1906, at which there was a large attendance including His Excellency the Governor who presided.
"The New Education" was discussed at the meeting and Mr. J.A. Johnson, M.A., was received with much applause, his lecture took up most of the meeting as it was such an important topic.
No meeting was held in October.

In 1855 its name changed to Royal Society of Tasmania for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science. In 1911 the name was shortened to Royal Society of Tasmania.
