Abstract

Annual report includes an alphabetical list of members with their year of election, report on the compilation of a catalogue of periodicals in libraries in Tasmania, section reports and accounts. Obituary notices for Rev. F.H. Baring, the Honourable Gamaliel Henry Butler, Lieut-Colonel Richard Charles Lewis, the Honourable James Macfarlane, Arthur Augustus Stephens and Alexander George Webster. There is a supplementary list of institutions, etc, to which the publications of the society are presented.

Additional Information:	In 1843 the Horticultural and Botanical Society of Van Diemen's Land was founded and became the Royal Society of Van Diemen's Land for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science in 1844. In 1855 its name changed to Royal Society of Tasmania for Horticulture, Botany, and the Advancement of Science. In 1911 the name was shortened to Royal Society of Tasmania.
