Handwritten article described as being compiled from a diary and notes written during many years residence in the islands and compiled at the request of the Royal Society of Tasmania and the Right Rev. H. H. Montgomery, D.D. Bishop of Tasmania, Launceston, October 16th 1899. Edward William Stephens was a State School teacher and catechist, 1890-1899. RS 40/3
