Abstract
During the peak movie going period of Christmas 2006, the blockbuster hit was not, as many people anticipated, the new Bond film, 'Casino Royale', but rather an animated musical about a tap-dancing Emperor penguin, entitled 'Happy Feet'. A brief note on the proposed research work to be carried out by an interdisciplinary team of research workers to look into the influence of books and films on public attitudes towards animals in the far south.
