Abstract
A letter from EDW Mitchell to Dr GF Story, from London, 20 July 1838. The letter concerns Barbara Matthews, Story's cousin, 'a poor creature in a deplorable condition.' Mitchell encouraged Story to provide Barbara with a annuity of 12 pounds, but to send this money through Bowes rather than Cotton, who he did not seem to trust. From Cotton Family Papers C7/165
