Abstract
The focus of this thesis, is a collection of
contemporary clippings about the Americanist controversy which
were preserved in the 52nd Street Paulist Library in New York
City and thereafter moved to the Paulist Archives attached to the
Order's institute near American University in Washington DC.
Many clippings in the collection, ordered chronologically by
anonymous Brothers, are simply record pieces abstracting various
speeches and epistles on the Americanist issue, or straightforward
reportage on unfolding events which tell us only what is covered
better in histories of the era.
