Abstract

The main aims of the thesis ares (1) To provide a comprehensive
survey of the growth, development and achievements
of modern Indian fiction in English; (2) to view
this literature in critical perspective; (3) to examine
thoroughly and interpret critically the work of the
most prominent novelists—namely Mulk Raj Anand, R.K.
Narayan and Raja Rao.
