Abstract
Christmas card dated 1879 and inscribed " Miss Travers from CWB Xmas 1879". Beatrice Maria Travers (1858-1936) eldest daughter of S. Smith Travers and Louisa Darbishire
, was to become the wife of Charles William Butler in 1882. They had seven children.
Charles William Butler (1854-1937) was educated at the Hutchins School and gained an Associate of Arts, first class in 1871 and was admitted as a lawyer in 1877. He then took a trip to N.S.W and to England and later joined the law practice of his father, Charles, elder brother, Edward Henry (AA 1867, admitted 1872) and John McIntyre, in the law practice of Butler, McIntyre and Butler. He was a keen cricketer and played for Australia. He was Chairman of the Board of Management of the Hutchins School 1912 -1937.
