Abstract
With the increase in home automation and controlsolutions through interconnected devices there is a greaterinterest for the development of more advanced home energymanagement systems (HEMS). In this paper we propose aHome Energy Management Multi-Agent (HEMMA) protocolto facilitate the distributed optimization of a HEMS. Adistributed optimal power flow algorithm based on the methodof multipliers is applied to the HEMMA protocol in order tooptimize the problem of DC power supply to a smart building.Together, the distributed optimization strategy and HEMMAprotocol implemented by agents in an Internet of Things areable to achieve a local optimum to the global problem whileobserving the voltage and power supply constraints of the DCpower sources and servicing constant current and constantpower loads.
