This paper provides a summary introduction to the idea of 'philosophical topography' that has been central to much of my thinking over recent years. It explores the basic concepts at issue here - notably, place, space, and time - while also briefly canvassing the way these notions have been dealt with in recent scholarship, especially within geography. The paper includes an account of the topographical approach at issue both in terms of its methodological and substantive ontological implications, including its implications for the understanding of human being, and so for notions of self and identity. The paper concludes with some comments on the way such a topography also entail as set of important ethical consequences.
