In this paper, we evaluate the application of established coping typologies to stressand coping among entrepreneurs. We posit that traditionally-adopted coping typologies that focus on the function of coping responses such as task- or emotion-oriented,may not adequately differentiate effective and ineffective coping in entrepreneurs, andthat temporal dimensions of coping should be considered when assessing coping inthis occupational group. We urge scholars to adopt a wider temporal lens throughwhich to investigate coping responses in entrepreneurs.
