Abstract
The research engages with the fields of contemporary classical, experimental music and collaborative improvisation. It recontextualises notated music by Elisabeth Lutyens (previously recorded by Teniswood) by situating it in a concert of mostly improvised music, exploring the sonorities of the piano through doubling, tripling, extended techniques and in combination with other percussion instruments including toys. Clocked Out (Vanessa Tomlinson and Erik Griswold) are known for their cutting-edge experimental activities sustained over 17 years. Bringing together the four musicians for the first time, the project sought to generate new work of significant length following a three-day incubation period.
