Abstract

A new aphaenopsoid trechine beetle has been discovered for the first time in the northeast of Jiangxi Province, East China, extending the eastern range of the known occurrence of cave-dwelling trechines in mainland China by more than 700 km. The new genus appears to be distantly related to Cathaiaphaenops and Boreaphaenops, but is readily distinguished from them by several diagnostic characters. The new name given is Jiangxiaphaenops longiceps.
