Abstract
Cards presented to George Washington Walker, including his total abstinence pledge, 1846, invitations to the Tasmanian Temperance Alliance first anniversary soiree, 1857 and dinner with Lieutenant Governor and Lady Franklin, and a card illustrating Ancanthe Museum. The inscription on the back of the latter reads 'presented by Lady Franklin on the eve of her departure from V.D. Land along with a token of remembrance to my wife, 25/10 mo. 1843.' This card accompanied a vase given by Jane Franklin to Mrs. G. W. Walker. The card was designed by Thomas Bock the convict artist and engraver and was presented by Lady Franklin to those attending the opening of the Museum. Walker Family Scrapbook compiled by Peter Benson Walker. Private collection.
