Abstract
Letters from Charles (farmer) and William Benson (architect) in Somerset to Sarah Benson Walker regarding the Benson relatives. The purpose of the letters was initially to find out the details of the Australian Benson family so that they could be entered on a Benson family tree. The correspondence seems to have continued because Sarah Walker had long felt isolated from her English relatives. The letters provide details from the family's history and current activities, to some extent affected by imperial events. They discuss the weather, seasons, the harvest, temperance, the state of the nation and Ireland.
