Reviews phonemic synthesis in Esperanto, building on its possibilities as an intermediate language for translation in the European Union as originally suggested in eprints.utas.edu.au/1806/, and describes how synthesis at that level could be used to provide an intermediate vocabulary for the Semantic Web
