Abstract

Jane Stewart studied at the Tasmanian School of Art, graduating with honours in 1998. She then undertook postgraduate studies in Art Curatorship and Museum Management at Melbourne University and began working as Assistant Manager of the City of Melbourne’s Art and Heritage Collection. Jane relocated to Tasmania in 2003 as Director of the Devonport Regional Gallery, and moved to TMAG in 2008 to pursue her current role as Principal Curator of Art.

Jane will introduce herself by running through some exhibitions and projects she has led since returning to Tasmania in 2003. She will take you inside TMAG to discuss the many roles and possibilities for art, and speculate about what might take place once the doors to the new buildings are actually open.
