Abstract
Toby Huddlestone will be talking about his current artistic practice, which incorporates artistic production through action, documentation, curating, writing & discussing. He will also discuss his increasing use of performance when choosing to deconstruct what constitutes artistic practice, which includes all aspects of 'being' an artist, not just making artworks.
Huddlestone is a practicing contemporary artist currently based in London who also works on curatorial projects. Recent projects & exhibitions include solo shows I'm so Bored of Viewing... at The Engine Room, Wellington (2010), New Zealand, R O O M, London (2010).
He is currently curator at Crate Studio & Project Space where he is curating a twelve-month programme Exhibition as Medium, which focuses on alternate models of exhibition format. As well as having undertaken residency & commission projects at Contemporary Art Society during Istanbul Biennial (2009), Outpost as part of Contemporary Art Norwich (2009) & group exhibitions We Are Grammar, curated by Paul O'Neill & Dave Beech at Pratt Manhattan Gallery, New York (2011), DEADPAN at The Royal Standard, Liverpool (2010).
He graduated from an MA in Fine Art from the University of the West of England in 2007 & completed his BA at Swansea Institute of H.E. in 2003 & has been successful on numerous occasions raising funds for independent projects & for organisations Crate & Plan 9.
