Abstract
Appian of Alexandria, Romanae Historiae, in Greek.
Ed. and pr. Carolus Stephanus (Charles Estienne), Lyon, 1551. Elegant headpieces and initials.
In the 15th and 16th centuries printers (Aldus Manutius, for instance) were sometimes also scholars and themselves edited the texts they published.
On the title page, in an early hand, is ‘Sum Gerardi [smudged]selii’. On the first flyleaf is ‘R. L. Dunbabin 24 Oct. 1913’. Presumably given by him to the University Library in 1940, though it lacks his usual ex dono plate.
Cent Rare Folio PA 3873 .A2 1551.
